Chef Spike Mendelsohn, the break out star of Top Chef Season 4 and the upcoming Top Chef All-Stars as well as a Washington D.C. restauranteur will honor some lucky person with bragging rights when he determines who has the best chili recipe during the first Fort George G. Meade Chaplain Chili Cook Off on Nov. 13, from 3-5 p.m. at the Fort Meade Pavilion.
In addition to the winner gaining bragging rights for having the best chili, he or she can feel good knowing that all proceeds from the cook off will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. This charity helps empower and honor wounded U.S. service members.
The chili cook off competition is open to the public and includes several different competition categories. The cost to enter the competition is $10.
In addition to serving as the celebrity judge for the competition, Chef Mendelsohn will be selling autographed copies of his cookbook The Good Stuff Cookbook: Burgers, Fries, Shakes, Wedges, and More. Winners of the cooking competition are eligible to win autographed celebrity memorabilia, gift certificates, and the grand prize of two tickets to a Washington Redskins game complete with parking and tailgating passes.
Families can enjoy moon bounces, free ice cream, venders and other entertainment. This cook off is a great family-friendly event that allows the community and families to come together, have some fun and help those that serve our country.
Chef Mendelsohn owns two well-received Washington D.C. restaurants, Good Stuff Eatery and We, The Pizza located on Capitol Hill. He’s also competing in Bravo’s new show Top Chef All-Stars that will debut on Dec. 1.
