Okay, so Valentine’s Day is really on Monday, but since nothing is quite as romantic as the first day of the workweek, you may want to show your sweetie some love over the weekend instead. Not that you shouldn’t tell those special people in your life you love them every day, of course.
For the Kids …
There’s not much young kids love more than singing and dancing. And you may even find yourself tapping your toe to the preschool rock and roll that makes up Milkshake’s repertoire. Led by singer Lisa Mathews and guitarist Mikel Gehl, this Grammy – and Wammy – nominated group is known for its songcraft, stagecraft and authentic rock and roll spirit. You can catch the group at Rams Head Live on Sunday at 1 p.m.
For the Grownups …
Time for a little romance? Enjoy yourselves with champagne, desserts and a little night music. While doing so, check out the Visionary Valentine exhibit at the Main Street Gallery in Cambridge. The $20 admission includes everything you need for the perfect evening of mixing and mingling. Get there at 7:30 and party till 10:30.
For the Whole Family …
Share the love – of learning, that is, by taking a trip to the Carrie Weedon Science Center in Galesville. There, you can hear Calvin D. Trowbridge, Jr. talk about his book, Marconi and the Birth of Wireless Communication. Remind your kids that there once was a world without cell phones, yet people still somehow found a way to talk to one another. The talk is free and it takes place from 3 to 4:30, with time to explore the museum afterwards, or during, if the youngsters get antsy.
Don't forget the flowers.
