Detour Dave to Talk at AA Red Cross Event

Feb 16, 2011 06:57PM ● By Anonymous
The familiar voice of Central Maryland’s radio drive-time almost died when he collapsed on a local softball field.  “Detour Dave’s riveting story will highlight just how important it is to know lifesaving CPR and first aid,” said Anne Arundel Red Cross District Board Chairman, Lawrence Scott.

The Red Cross provided lifesaving training to nearly 500 Anne Arundel County residents last year, Scott added.  In addition, Red Cross volunteers provide food, clothing, shelter and other emergency supplies to local families who are victims of fires and other disasters. Blood donations collected by the Red Cross help patients in local medical institutions.

The March 1 breakfast, which begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Sheraton, will raise funds for disaster relief and safety training in Anne Arundel County.  It is also the local kick-off for a nationwide celebration of the American Red Cross.  Each year, the President of the United States, as well as local government officials, proclaim the month of March as Red Cross Month.

“We are most grateful to Aerotek, which is helping to underwrite this community event,” said Mr. Scott.  “Aerotek and other generous corporate citizens make Red Cross services possible”
