Prom dresses, like those for brides, bridesmaids, wedding guests and special occasions, follow the latest fashion trends.
For Favianna, a prom collection, spokesperson Lauren Platsky stated: “The trends for Prom 2011 are black and white, rosettes, sorbet bold colors and beading.”
Tony Bowls designs several collections, including a pageant line Tony Bowls for Mon Cheri, plus Paris by Tony Bowls, Le Gala by Tony Bowls and Tony Bowls Evenings. His designs are available online and at the Syncronicity Boutique in Pikesville and Potomac Bridals in Hagerstown.
“Yellow, aqua, and red will be dominate colors this prom season,” he said. “You will see more sophisticated, fashion-forward styles. Traditional prom styles are available, but today’s young women love fashion and want to show dresses that reflect style.” He stated: “High-low hems are popular this year, more so than ever before. Two-tone combinations of colors with sequins are making a big comeback!”
At Promgirl Inc., based in Philadelphia, the spotlight is on formal dress cuts that flatter different body types and curves. Dresses with sweetheart necklines are especially popular as they allow a girl the chance to show off some great jewelry. Strapless dresses continue to be a big hit, and, for those who want to show off their toned shoulders and backs without worrying about keeping a strapless dress in place, dresses with spaghetti straps and halter necklines provide a stylish solution.
Floor lengths will vary this season, says Promgirl. Both floor length styles and short, flirty lengths look great on the dance floor.
New-looking, now Prom dress colors are bright, eye-popping colors in bold pink, brilliant orange, deep purple and blazing blue. Never fear, though, black or white or black-and-white formal dresses never go out of style.
