Contest Asks 5th graders to design jewelry for Mother’s Day
Severna Park, MD March 30, 2011 – Zachary’s Jewelers, Severna Park is sponsoring a contest for local area 5th graders asking them to design a piece of jewelry for their mother in their art classes. Finalists will be selected from each of the participating schools and the top three will have their design made into a piece of jewelry for their mother. All participating artists will be invited to a Mother’s Day Brunch at Zachary’s Jewelers, Severna Park & Homestead Gardens on April 30th. All finalists will receive a surprise gift. The USNA glee club’s, ”The Anchormen” will also be in attendance to perform.
Challie Samaras, owner of Zachary’s, said “This is not only a way of taking part in our community but also encourages art in the school system”. Daphne Foreman also added “ This contest allows us to find inspiration for what we do, taking a child’s artwork and making a piece of jewelry that the mother will be brought to tears with is an easy undertaking. Before you really notice it your children will be grown and then what precious reminder of their childhood this would be for their mom.”
Zachary’s Jewelers, Severna Park is a new branch of the company that specializes in diamond importing, custom design and contains a state of the art manufacturing center. They hope to not only become well known for their one of a kind jewelry but also as an involved local business that cares about their community.
