This weekend, your faithful events editor will be out of town. Of course, it happens to be a weekend where there are tons of fun things happening right in my backyard. Oh, well. You will just have to enjoy them in my staid. Here are three of my faves.
For the Kids ….
Take em’ to the Guppy Gala at the National Zoo from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tomorrow. They can enjoy animal encounters, kid-friendly food, and other activities just for children ages 2 to 12. This event is for Friends of National Zoo members. If you’re not a member yet, you can join online.
For the Grownups …
Celebrate racing season and help the Volunteer Center of Anne Arundel County by attending the Nite at the Races at the Loews Annapolis Hotel, tomorrow from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. It features betting windows, a raffle and silent auction, video horse racing, music by Sparks Raymond and McCoy and a two hour open bar. You can buy tickets at the door for $60 each.
For the Whole Family …
Never been to Chestertown? Go on Saturday and you can check out the Artisans’ Market. It features local arts and crafts, including jewelry and painted furniture, and it’s right near the local farmers market, also in Fountain Park 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
