In a note that accompanied her gift, the donor wrote, “In deepest appreciation for the quick, compassionate, and life-saving medical treatment I received from Dr. Frank Ciocci and staff, please accept this donation. Dr. Ciocci was quickly able to diagnose the emergency. I was often told by my doctors that it was because of the rapid response and medical treatment I received at the Memorial Hospital ER that I am here today.”
The Everyday Hero Program gives patients and their families an opportunity to honor a Shore Health System physician, staff member or volunteer by making a financial donation in their name. These gifts support Shore Health System in its mission of delivering exceptional care, every day across the Mid-Shore region.
“Appreciative patients and their families regularly send notes, drop off boxes of candy and send bouquets of flowers to thank the Shore Health System staff and volunteers who give a special caring touch at one of our facilities,” says Patricia O’Shea, Director of Development for Shore Health System. “For people who want to do more, the Everyday Hero program gives them a chance to make a donation to express their gratitude.”
Everyday Heroes are recognized with a celebration in their work area. They also receive a lapel pin that distinguishes them as providers of excellent customer service. “This public recognition honors the recipients of the Everyday Hero award and encourages others to achieve the same standards of exceptional care, everyday,” O’Shea explains.
Checks or credit card gifts in any amount can be made to recognize a specific person or a whole group who provided care at any of Shore Health System’s hospitals or outpatient centers around the Mid-Shore region. Donors can choose to remain anonymous. A donor’s tax-deductible gift can be made to a general fund or it can be designated for a specific service, such as cancer care or emergency services.
“We know that people always want to say ‘thank you’ for the great care they get whether from a physician, a nurse, a lab tech, food services staff or one of the auxiliary volunteers,” says O’Shea. “Over the years we have received checks of all sizes from people whose lives have been touched in special ways by our staff. The Everyday Hero program gives donors an opportunity to more formally recognize a person who enhanced their Shore Health System experience.”Shore Health System410-822-1000 or 410-228-5511, ext. 5915www.shorehealth.org/giving
