And that's another reason to visit the cafe. The menu will be different than in Harbour Lights, the inn's main restaurant, focusing more on small plates that pair well with the wines.
The wine bar opened in April, and has done well so far, according to Rachel Feldman, sales and banquet manager. The bar, which opens up to the patio that features expansive views of the St. Michaels Harbor, was previously the Wheelhouse Room, used for small dinners and private events.
But it’s not just a wine bar. “The idea is to cover the spectrum from morning until night,” Feldman says. In the morning, customers can purchase specialty coffees, as well as continental-style cuisine such as muffins and beignets, all made from scratch. At lunchtime, you can sit and enjoy a variety of signature salads and sandwiches, or you can grab a meal and take it to go on the boat or out and about in St. Michaels.
Finally at night, they "dim the lights and make it something that wasn't available in St. Michaels," Feldman says. Small plates, tapas, and a selection of wines and fine cordials will all be available.
