Mike McHenry Tribe and Bridgette Michaels Kick-Off

Summer-Long Series This Sunday

Annapolis, MD. Get out your lawn chairs, Annapolis, and head down to the Dock! ARINC’s Summer at City Dock, the Free Performing Arts and Live Music Series at Annapolis’ waterfront, officially kicks off its 2011 season on Sunday, May 29th with a full day of entertainment.

Every Sunday from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, City Dock will come alive from 2:00 to 7:00 pm with family-friendly street performers, and the best in local musical talent, with face painters, balloon artists, stilt walkers and more filling in throughout the day. Now in its the third year, the series is supported by the City of Annapolis and local businesses who want to bring visitors and residents alike to Annapolis’ historic downtown district.

The new season launches at 2 pm on May 29th at Susan C. Campbell Park with a visit from the Unicycle Lady, a street performer whose one-wheeled antics and interactive show leave everyone laughing. From 3:00 - 5 pm, Bridgette and the Band bring their Caribbean rhythms to the dock with family-friendly music that appeals to all ages. Bridgette brings an extra supply of musical instruments so young audience members can play along. The day culminates with an outdoor performance by Annapolis favorite, the Mike McHenry Tribe. Mike is one of the most talented musicians in town and well-known for his gifted guitar playing in a style reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix and some of the best rock and roll legends of the 60’s and ‘70’s. Magician Joe Castricone will be roaming throughout the day with sleight of hand tricks that will keep audience members on their toes.

New this year:

Food and drink will be available at the dock, provided by some of the area’s restaurants. Chick and Ruth’s Delly will be offering their world famous jumbo lump crabcakes and Jimmy John’s will take on-the-spot orders and deliver sandwiches down to the dock for festival attendees. Audiences are also encouraged to bring down snacks and then head to the local restaurants and pubs for dinner.

Parking: Attendees are encouraged to park free at the State Garage on Rowe Blvd. or any of the uptown garages off of West Street and call the always-free e- cruiser shuttles to take them down to City Dock. The dispatch number to call for a ride is 443-481-2422. E-Cruisers will also pick up from the parking lots at the Loewe's Hotel and at Park Place off of West Street.

Other performers slated to take to the stage this summer include: Classic Case, Fools and Horses, The Rovers, 8 Ohms, Sweet Leda, Chester River Runoff, Ben’s Bones, Uncle Jack, La Unica, Mama Jama, Pressing Strings, and more, plus a full slate of entertaining street performers. See for the full schedule. Susan C. Campbell Park is located at #1 Dock Street in Downtown Annapolis’ Historic District.
