Weekend's Best Bets: Get Up and Get Going

It's finally Friday again! And, if you're anything like me, you're looking for something to take your mind off of the things that are stressing you out (debt crisis, anyone?) But, guess what? We're in luck! There are a whole slew of great events this weekend.

Let's say you're going to be hanging out in Annapolis. Then you're definitely going to want to head over to Wild Willy's Rock House and Saloon for Party with a Purpose. It benefits the Light House, a homeless prevention support center, so the $20 event cost is tax deductible. This year, Party with a Purpose features music by a Classic Case, who specialize in classic rock from the 50's, 60's and 70's. You'll also get to bid on a date with an eligible bachelor/bachelorette, and take part in a live auction of a vacation on a 60's luxury catamaran and a day on the Bay sail. Having fun for a good cause--what's not to love?

If you're going to find yourself on the Shore, you're in for a treat. This weekend marks the arrival of Chestertown's annual Crazy Days. (They actually started last night). This fun-filled even is not just your average sidewalk sale. It's famous! Once a year, specialty shops display serious bargains on the red-brick sidewalks of Chestertown. So, now is your chance to get outside, meander down those beautiful bricks, and buy some great finds. And, on Saturday, Crazy Days coincides with Chestertown's Farmers' Market and Artisans' Market. There's free parking throughout the whole sale, so you don't even have to worry about digging around for quarters. Being the cheap thrifty person that I am, I know I'll be stopping by.

Suppose you want to get further out into Maryland. I have a suggestion. Now, I know Americans aren't generally known as avid soccer fans. But, it's not every day you get to watch two international teams go head to head a stone's throw from the nation's capital. This Saturday at FedEx Field, Manchester United takes on FC Bacelona. Man U was first in the Premier League last year, and boasts the league's most championships. FC Barcelona, on the other hand, are the current champions of La Liga. So, it's sure to be a good match. Head to ticketmaster to snatch up the last tickets.
