DCI 2011: Big, Loud & Live 8

Centennial, Colo. – July 21, 2011 – Drum Corps International (DCI), together with NCM Fathom, is returning for its eighth consecutive year to present the snap of the snare and boom of the bass drum in DCI 2011: Big, Loud & Live 8. The event will be broadcast live from the World Championship Prelims at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Thursday, August 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET/ 5:30 p.m. CT / 4:30 p.m. MT / 3:30 p.m. PT. This one-day Fathom event will feature outstanding performances from the country’s top marching music ensembles in theaters nationwide.

The event will be broadcast in more than 550 movie theaters across the country through NCM’s exclusive Digital Broadcast Network.

Big, Loud & Live 8 will feature more than five hours of electrifying performances from 23 drum corps competing in the 2011 DCI World Championship Prelims. The live broadcast will include the complete competitive productions of the top 15 drum corps along with edited highlights of the day’s events.

Since 1972, Drum Corps International has developed into a powerful, nonprofit, global youth activity with far-reaching artistic, educational and organizational influence. The primary purpose of a DCI corps is to provide a life-changing experience for youth through the art of marching music performance. Their competitive summer tour, consisting of DCI-sanctioned competitions (known as the Drum Corps International Tour) throughout the United States and Canada, culminates in August with the week-long DCI World Championships.
