September 3

Olivia Newton-John Hosts Cancer Awareness Event with musical guest, the Kelly Bell Band, at Rams Head Live, Baltimore. This event supports the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Center and the local Baltimore Cool Kids Foundation. Meet and Greet: 6:30 p.m. GA Doors: 7:30 p.m. $75–$5,000. 410-244-1131.

Arts Alive—“A Starry Night” raises funds for our community arts programs. The evening features entertainment by local performers, live and silent auctions, and delicious appetizers and hors d’oeuvres. At the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, Annapolis. 6-11 p.m. $150. 410-263-5544, ext. 10.

September 10

Live on the Farm! is a concert to benefit Maryland Therapeutic Riding’s Horses for Heroes program. This year, the concert features Kathy Mattea. Also featured are concessions, rider demonstrations and live and silent auctions. At Maryland Therapeutic Riding, Crownsville. American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Out of the Darkness Walk is a 3-mile walk that starts at St.Paul Lutheran Church and travels through Annapolis to the City Dock and then ends back at St.Paul’s. Proceeds benefit local and national suicide prevention and awareness programs. Check-in and on-site registration begins 8 a.m.Walk ends at 11:30 a.m. Free. Gambrills 2nd Annual Fall Family Festival featuring five bands, dozens of local small businesses selling goods and food, including hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches, popcorn and MD hardshell crabs. 12-4 p.m.

16th Annual Severna Park Community Center Golf Tournament to benefit youth programming at SPCC. Enjoy a putting contest, lunch, prizes and 50/50 drawing. Kaufmann’s 9th Annual Golf Tournament benefits the Spalding High School Wrestling Team. Full crab feast and award ceremony to follow, complete with prizes, raffles and give-a-ways. 2nd Annual Italian Market Wine Festival raises funds for the Johns Hopkins Hospital, on behalf of Love for Luca, an organization developed in honor of Lucca Assante, a remarkable three-year-old Annapolis, Maryland native who is currently battling against rare form of cancer, rabdomysarcoma. The purpose and mission of Love for Luca is to raise money for The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center Musculoskeletal Tumor Research Program. First Maryland Conquer Chiari Walk benefits Conquer Chiari, and is organized by 12-year-old Megan Killpatrick, a Severna Park resident and Chiari survivor. The fundraiser consists of a .7 mile walk, a 2.4 mile walk, and a Kids Can Conqu er Too field-day style event for children.Walkers will enjoy a hospitality pavilion, give-aways, and a grand-prize raffle. 10th Annual Caregivers’ Wellness Day is a day to nurture the non-professional, unpaid family caregiver. The event is sponsored by the National Family Caregiver Support Program of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities. Kids First Car Wash raises funds for Culture Car Au Pair’s charitable campaign, Kids First, intended to better the lives of children all over the world. 5k Run/3k Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer is the largest fundraiser and awareness event for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Organized by local Chapter volunteers, this event celebrates our survivors, remembers those we’ve lost to ovarian cancer and increases awareness about ovarian cancer. Hospice Cup XXX

28th Annual Make-A-Wish Triathlon benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic. This exciting 1.5K ocean swim, 41K bike and 10K run allow sathletes to participate as individuals or as a member of a relaty team. The Foundation is also excited to offer a new partition at this year’s Triathlon - AquaVelo! At Sea Colony Resort, Bethany Beach. $150. Second Annual Larry’s Ride and Run to Raise Bicycle Safety Awareness benefits the advocacy efforts of Bike Maryland, a non-profit dedicated to better and safer bicycling, walking ans mass transit. Help raise awareness of bicyclists and bicycle safety issues to prevent tragedies by celebrating Larry’s life one mile at a time. BWI 4-Mile Run/2-Mile Family Fun Walk benefits the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Down Syndrome Clinic. This year only, participants will receive a “Silver Anniversary” commemorative long-sleeve t-shirt. There will be a continental breakfast for all paid participants, and awards for all top individual finishers and schools with the most participants. 6th Annual Beagle Bash raises funds for Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland, Inc. This event features a variety of activities in a securly fenced area for off-leash fun and play, including canine good citizen testing, swimming and louging by the doggie pool, games food and more! Fair Trade Oriental Rug Event is sponsored by Ten Thousand Villages, and features over 300 hand-knotted rugs all made by fairly-paid adults.
