Italian Market of Annapolis Hosts Second Annual Wine Festival to Benefit Johns Hopkins Hospital

Annapolis, Maryland — The Italian Market and Restaurant of Annapolis wrapped up its second annual Italian Market Wine Festival to benefit the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center on behalf of the Love for Luca Organization (www.loveforluca.org) on Saturday, September 17th from 12pm to 8pm.

The event held at the Italian Market and Restaurant in Annapolis, Maryland (126 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401) was a great success and boasted dozens of Annapolitian’s Socialites and key figures within the community. With thirty percent of the event proceeds donated to The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center Musculoskeletal Tumor Research Program on behalf of the Love for Luca organization, the Italian Market raised and contributed over $10,000.

The event included international and domestic wines from regions including: Napa Valley, Argentina, Tuscany, and Sicily. In addition to the fabulous wine selections, guests enjoyed gourmet Italian food courtesy of the Italian Market, live entertainment, various vendors, and children’s activities.

Other vendors at the event included Lotus Therapeutic Massage, Sparkles ‘n Stones, Scentsy Wickless Candles, Cross Creek Candies, Jump ‘n Jeff’s Shaved Ice, Paint ‘N pARTy of Maryland and Hello World Books by Jaya Halepete.

The Love for Luca organization wishes to thank several local businesses that have chosen to show their support in the fight against childhood cancer. Some of the businesses that made this event possible include: The Italian Market and Restaurant, Chic Communications, and Absolute Party Rental and Supply.

About the Love for Luca Organization:
The Love for Luca (www.loveforluca.org) organization was established in support of Luca Assante, a four-year-old Annapolis native, son of Vinnie and Lucy Assante, who is currently in remission from a rare form of cancer. Luca has endured countless chemotherapy and radiation treatments for this rare and debilitating form of cancer; and braves his fight everyday just like thousands of children around the world. The mission of this organization is to increase childhood cancer awareness and to raise funds for musculoskeletal tumor research.
