November 4

Celebration of Philanthropy Luncheon
honors individuals whose generosity as philanthropists or volunteers have strenghthened Anne Arundel County’s nonprofit institutions. In years past, more than 300 guests have gathered to honor them. An Evening in CASAblanca
is a fun Casablancathemed evening of dancing, fabulous food, and a live and silent auction. Proceeds benefit AACASA and the foster children served. At the Loews Annapolis Hotel, Annapolis. 7–11 p.m. $150. 410-267- 7877.

Fish for A Cure
benefits the Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute. Boats can fish anywhere on the Bay, but must be in line for the weigh-in of their rockfish at 5 p.m. at the old Fawcett’s Building, Annapolis. The weigh-in is followed by the Tournament Bash, featuring Doug Segree and an auction to raise additional money. Also at Fawcett’s. Our Lady of the Chesapeake Winter Relief Dinner
features a live and silent auction with items up for bid that include a week’s stay in a North Carolina beach house, a long weekend in Ocean City, local boat cruises, golf outings, and many more items. Proceeds benefit Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church and its programs held in conjuction with the Arundel House of Hope to provide food and shelter to the homeless during the cold winter months. November 6

Annual Concert of Tastes
is presented by the Friends of Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. Absolutely Fabulous Afternoon Tea with Hats and Fashions
is presented by the Daughters of the British Empire, and features fashions by Alpaca International, Coldwater Creek, and Nordstrom’s. 3rd Annual John Ripley Memorial Race
is a 5K run, with a one mile Fun Run for Kids that celebrates the legacy of valor and leadership of Colonel John W. Ripley, Unites States Marine Corps (USMC). The Ripley Race is powered by the Cincinnatus Fund, a 501 (c) 3 that serves returning veterans where the system stops. At Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. 9 a.m. $10- $35. Odenton Heritage Society Fashion Show and Luncheon
featuring catering by Mamma Roma’s Restaurant, and the new fall line of fashions by Magic Scarf. Other higlights include a 50/50 raffle, and an appearance by local artist Mildred Bottner Anderson. November 10

Providence Center’s 50th Anniversary Celebration
benefits the Center, and honors the its first 50 years in service. This will be a wonderful celebration of the important work it does to support adults with developmental disabilities who seek greater independence and the opportunity to chart their own path in life. November 12

Black & White 80’s Prom
is the biggest fundraising event of the year for the Oak Hill Elementary School PTO. With a gourmet dinner menu provided by local restaurants, open bar, dancing, games, and prizes as well as live and silent auctions, this event brings out hundreds of people to support the school. At the Severna Park Elks Lodge, Severna Park. 6–11 p.m. $40 per guest; $35 per senior or grandparent.

November 13

Meet the Authors
features three celebrated authors who share a fascination with history. These authors include Jane Leavy, Louis Bayard, and Lynne Olsen. The presentation is followed by a wine and hors d’oeuvre reception and book signing. Proceeds benefit Caritas Society grants for students in need. Jingle Bell Run/Walk®
is a fun, festive event for the whole family. Participants wear their reindeer antlers and/or themed costumes, and tie jingle bells to their shoelaces and run or walk a 5 kilometer route with their team members to celebrate the season by giving. 23rd Annual AACC 5K Turkey Trot, One-Mile Jaunt and Food Drive

12th Annual Turkey Chase
features 5K Run/Walk and 10K races open to the whole family. Both courses have scenic trails where it is possible to see wild turkeys! At Camp Letts, Edgewater. Critter Sale Opening Day
is presented by the London Town Craft Guild of Historic London Town. The “critters” are small animals and figures made from natural materials collected in the Gardens at London Town. 13th Annual Friends Foundation Holiday Party
provides the Friends Foundation with a way of wrapping up the year while bringing together everyone who has supported them for one last celebration. Annual METAvivor Holiday Home Tour
benefits METAvivor Research and Support Inc., a local nonprofit that provides support for women and men with metastatic breast cancer, and raises research funds to change the course of the disease from terminal to chronic and controlled. December 4

Annual Artisan Boutique
features regional artists with handcrafted jewelry, original children’s clothing and accessories, pottery, paintings and more. In addition to the artisan offerings, the event will include door prizes, raffles, a silent auction, refreshments and an appearance by Lisa McCue, an illustrator of children’s books.
