RSVP Program Honored

The Volunteers in Police Service/Reserve Officers Program nominated by RSVP at the county Department of Aging and Disabilities received the “Answering the Call” Volunteer Project Award from the Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County and the Coordinators of Volunteers of Anne Arundel County (COVAAC). At the Nov. 10 Hall of Fame ceremony at the Yellowfin restaurant in Edgewater are, from left, Talia Grover, Volunteer Center board president; Cpl. Jimmy Miller, Anne Arundel County Police Department and liaison to the Department of Aging and Disabilities; Joe Levesque, of Harmans, volunteer coordinator for the Reserve Officers who has 29 years of volunteer service; Mike Willets, senior vice president, Capital One Bank and event host sponsor; Bruce Petro, of Millersville, a Reserve Officer; and Kim Yates, of Pasadena, director of RSVP. This year alone, VIPS/RO volunteers have donated more than 30,600 hours, saving county taxpayers more than $639,000. For information on RSVP, call 410-222-6717.
