A 4.26-GPA student, Matt, the first child of Peter and Karen Shin of Crofton, is President of the Key Club, an AP Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, the Relay for Life committee, the Principal’s Honor Roll (with an impressive 4.86 weighted GPA his first marking period of school), and he made the varsity baseball team as a freshman, for which he’s now a team captain. Matt got to play in last year’s MSABC Junior Classic in Bowie at Baysox Stadium, is a member of the Maryland Monarchs showcase team, and played for the 2011 Potter Baseball Tour wooden-bat team. He was also among the county leaders last year in stolen bases. Matt has a 14-year-old brother named Caleb and a sister, Karilyn, who’s 7.
