Celebrate Earth Day

If you're looking for some local Earth Day fun, you've come to the right place. Below is our list of Earth Day events.

Annapolis

April 20

Go Green is an environmentally friendly health fair for members of the community and Baltimore Washignton Medical Center. The event will feature a wide variety of activities focused on promoting good health while helping the environment. At the BWMC Tate Center, Glen Burnie. 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Rain Garden Installation and Earth Day Celebration invites everyone to get their hands dirty and join in for a fun, festive Earth Day celebration. In the Maryland DNR Parking Lot, Annapolis. 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

April 21

GreenScape is a community partnership investment of beautification, clean-up, and planting in public places. All over Annapolis, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Earth Day Nature Events focus on nature's glory. See live birds of prey, attend interact presentations, sample organic foods and eco-friendly wines, and bring the kids to a special story time. At Clock Tower Place, Annapolis. 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

South River Snapshot invites you to asses the river's health by conducting water quality tests. At over 30 different stations. Training session on 4/19 required.

Earth Day 2012 features green projects from local schools and businesses, exotic and adoptable animals, a shred it truck, rain barrels, composters, and trees for sale, and more. At Severna Park Middle School, Severna Park. 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Spa Creek Greenscape Day will involve a general cleanup and the planting of a few shrubs; nothing too strenuous, but help is needed. At the Lincoln Drive Rain Garden, Annapolis. 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

April 22

Earth Water Faith Festival is a fun afternoon of music, art, and inspiration featuring live music, environmental and educational displays, special readings, and more. At the Annapolis Towne Center, Annapolis. 2-5 p.m.

April 29

Earth Month Celebration features a cut-a-thon, spa services, a lip print reading, door prizes, music, food, tea samplings, a wine tasting, a silent auction, and more. At Varuna Aveda Lifestyle Salon and Spa, Annapolis. 5-8 p.m.

Eastern Shore

April 21

Earth Day Beginner's Bird Walk offers a morning of trail and overlook exploration, allowing for ample time to see migrant birds. At Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge, Rock Hall. 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

Betterton Beach Clean Up at Betterton Beach, Betterton. 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Registration open through 4/20. 410-778-1948.

Earth Day Workshop on Healthy Lawns will teach you how to have a healthy lawn and contribute to the health of the rivers. In Fountain Park, Chestertown. 10-11 a.m.

April 22

Earth Day Cleanup Celebration in Greensobro offers various projects such as park cleanup, planting flowers, and general sprucing up. Meet at Greensboro Town Hall. 1-4 p.m. 410-482-6222.

Regional

April 21

Earth Day Extravaganza will explore family-friendly ways to adopt a greener lifestyle and help conserve our planet's resources. At the Maryland Science Center, Baltimore 12-4 p.m.

April 21-28

9th Annual Baltimore Green Week offers a week-long schedule of fun environmental activities.

April 22

Earth Day on the National Mall features music, entertainment, celebrity speakers, and environmental activities. 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
