I, for one, will be heading to Artscape in Baltimore. Taking place today through Sunday, Artscape features more than 120 arts and craftspeople from across the country. Attendees can check out visual art exhibits, incredible live concerts on four stages, a full schedule of performing arts including dance, opera, theater, fashion, film, and classical music, hands-on projects, children’s entertainers, and a delicious international menu of food. And, best of all, it’s free!

The Shore has a couple of fun family festivals going on too.

The Kent County Fair kicked off last night, and continues through Saturday. It’s a traditional county fair featuring great food, 4-H and community exhibits, animals, tractors, games, and entertainment.

And at Kent Island High School, the Kent Island Fire Department opens its annual carnival on Sunday. Continuing through the 28th, this 62nd installment includes games, special rides, and fireworks. Proceeds go to the fire department.

If you’re concerned about showers, though, and the thought of these outdoor events is sending you into a panic, head to Annapolis.

Now through the 29th, Colonial Players are presenting their summer one act play festival, Bits ‘n Pieces. Featuring eight one acts ranging from Shakespeare to contemporary originals, you’re sure to find something you’ll like. Word on the street is that some of these are hilarious, so be careful with your beverages. No spit-takes allowed.

And, all you West County folks and/or foodies, take note. Bear’s Honeypot in Odenton is having its grand opening on Saturday. The event will feature a live band, door prizes, a raffle, and barbeque, and will give you a chance to check out all that the store has to offer. Think local cheese, produce, meats, and, of course, honey. Yum.
