30 Percent for 30 Percent

Currently, only two percent of U.S. breast cancer dollars go toward metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research. However, 30 percent of patients with early stage breast cancer develop MBC. Those stats inspired METAvivor to create the “30 Percent for 30 Percent” campaign, reasoning that if 30 percent of breast cancer patients develop MBC, then 30 percent of the funding should be directed at MBC research. Their dream is to turn MBC into a disease you can live with. Their realistic aspirations aren’t for a miraculous cure, but for scientific developments that will allow those with metastatic breast cancer to hold the line, not turn those fatal corners…to survive.
Most of us know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But you may not know that October 13 is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day. METAvivor raises funds to support research into treating MBC. In fact, the organization will award at least three research grants this month. And save the date for their annual Holiday Home Tour fundraiser scheduled for December 1st. Visit METAvivor.org for details and for information about how you can get involved with this worthy effort.
