Welcome to Towne Socialite!

From black tie affairs to private events, Towne Social strives to be everywhere—previewing, highlighting, and capturing the events that fill our calendars and benefit causes we care about. But while achieving a higher good, philanthropy is fun, isn’t it? That’s where the Socialite comes in. We open our checkbooks in the name of charity, but who are we kidding—the open bar doesn’t hurt. And if we can stumble upon a good mashed potato bar, well, there will have been yet another thing to have made our valiant efforts worth our time. (Don’t mind if we do…)

While happy surprises like a top shelf—or potato—bar are nice, isn’t it better to be prepared? Arriving without dinner to an event serving crudities, or with nothing but plastic to a cash bar, will leave you grumbling. We’ll give you the heads up.

If the bubbly, hors d’oeuvres—and yes, the benefiting charity—don’t stir your excitement, perhaps it’ll be the excuse to don the little black dress that’s been all but begging you to showcase it, or to dust off the tux that you’ve been dying to prove still fits. (Don’t worry, we believe you.) Yes, dressing up is part of the fun. But, statistics* prove that the number one cause of a bad time is showing up to an event under- or over-dressed. We’ll help with that too. After all, “black tie optional” means a lot of different things to different people, especially in this boating town where Sperry’s are coveted like Prada.

Don’t let an unprepared stomach (or wallet) or a fashion faux pas ruin your evening. And don’t miss out on what happened over the weekend while you were under the weather or out of the state. As often as we can, we’ll update you with the nitty gritty of the philanthropic social scene. And if we don’t have the information you’re looking for, just ask. We’d love to talk to you. We are, after all, the Towne Socialite.

*By statistics we mean, we surveyed people.**

**By surveyed people, we mean we asked a couple of our friends. This isn’t a scientific journal, okay?
