December might not quite be here yet, but it's on its way. Ring it in with style. Have you called the Westin recently? They answer the phone with the oh-so-sweet "Season's Greetings!" Few things make our hearts melt more. If you've never been to the Holly Ball, we suggest you put it on your list. Forty-nine years and this thing is still going strong. Apparently the Severn Town Club knows how to throw a party.
We're sure that over the years some things have changed, and if you've never been before, you'll want to know what to expect. So we asked all the awkward questions you've been mulling around in anticipation. After all, don't you want to get holiday party season off with a bang? It's only November if you go home before midnight.
So here's what you need to know:
Where Will We Park?
The good news is that both valet and hotel garage self parking are available. The bad news is that both are $10. But hey, the bar is open. And there's a coat check. Two wins for the Holly Ball. Better yet, we'll call that two and a half.
What Will We Eat?
After a cocktail hour sprinkled with hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, guests can look forward to plated salad, following by a dinner of the following: barrel cut New York strip steak, a medallion of salmon with roasted red pepper sauce, potatoes dauphinoise, and a swiss chard sauté. For dessert, chocolate lovers delight; enjoy a triple chocolate mousse torte with raspberry coulis. Yummmmmm. Eat well, but don't fill yourself up so much that you can't cut a rug. After the live auction, the event will feature music by Oracle. And you'll want to be plenty limber to groove to the musical styling's of this six-piece band.
What Should We Wear?
The Holly Ball is a rather fancy affair--they call it "black tie preferred." Gents: Dust off your tuxes. You may wear a suit, but it's early in the holiday season: let's set that bar high, shall we? Ladies: Red carpet season is upon us, and it's time to quit living vicariously through the Hollywood step and repeat. Break out the gowns, or opt for an ultra glamorous knee-length number. The Holly Ball is what little girl's dress-up dreams are made of. Besides, the photography is complementary—you're going to want to shine.
