Brion speaks frequently on investment topics, coaching retirees throughout the community as well as to other top financial advisors in the industry. Brion is an active member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), which provides its members with resources to improve their technical knowledge, sales and client services while maintaining a culture of high ethical standards. As part of this association, Brion is a member of the MDRT’s Top of the Table, the highest sales level for financial services professionals. Brion often shares with his clients that retirement planning these days is like trying to climb Mount Everest. It takes years of preparation, discipline and focus to get to the top (or in Retirement Planning, to save enough money to carry clients throughout retirement). Most climbers who try to get to the top of Mount Everest don’t run into problems on the way up the mountain, but rather on the way back down. This analogy is very true for Retirement Planning as well; most retirees don’t fail accumulating assets, most retirees fail on the way back down (during the distribution phase). Many people fail to take into consideration the multiple dangers during the distribution phase, such as longevity, inflation, taxes, market volatility, health risks and sequence of returns. Not enough retirees are taking the time to crunch the numbers to analyze how long their money will last at different rates of return, inflation rates, and dollar amounts.

Brion starts most relationships with a proprietary process he calls the Family Index. “Once you have clarity around a client’s existing family index (i.e., how long their money’s going to last) it makes it easier to go out and find the appropriate products to solve the clients financial picture.” Working with an expert like Brion will help to ensure that you’ve got the knowledge and plan in place to make that very important journey back down the mountain.
