Sep 18, 2013 12:07PM ● By Cate Reynolds
Like it or not, winter is right around the corner. Now, in addition to slippery roads and high heating bills, we have to worry about higher cholesterol levels. Brazilian researchers have discovered that cholesterol levels go up in winter and drop again in warmer weather. Changes in diet, exercise and sun exposure are the leading suspects. Don’t trade that big salad for a big mac & cheese, Do join a gym if it’s too cold out to walk or run, and Do add some vitamin D foods to your daily menu (salmon, eggs, soymilk, regular milk poured on fortifi ed cereal), and Do be grateful so many “r” months are ahead, since oysters are a terrifi c source of vitamin D.

Bottom Line: Now that you know it’s coming, plan ahead.
