Cranberry Butter

Making your own flavored butters is really one of the easiest things to do. The best part? It looks like it took forever. So you get extra credit from friends and family.

1/2 cup softened butter
1/2 cup fresh cranberries
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. whole cloves
1/2 tsp. whole allspice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Combine cloves, allspice and cinnamon in the middle of a coffee filter. Tie it with some twine and set aside. Place cranberries, water and sugar in a sauce pan and place the filter sachet in the middle. Bring to a boil and let the cranberries begin to pop. Boil for about 2 minutes, then turn the heat down to low. Simmer 6 to 8 minutes until it begins to thicken. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Once cool, place 1/2 cranberry mixture into a bowl. Place softened butter in the bowl and mix with the cranberries until fully combined. Place the mixed butter onto a sheet of parchment then twist the parchment, almost like a candy wrapper. Place in the fridge until ready to use.
