New Year’s Eve Plans

The year 2013 is winding down and will be over before we know it. If you haven’t come up with any New Year’s ideas or plans, you’re in luck because we’ve got you covered. There are plenty of places locally to enjoy the final moments of this big year and ring in a fresh 2014.

Downtown Annapolis will be hosting its annual New Year’s Eve Celebration at Susan B. Campbell Park Tuesday from 3 p.m. to after midnight. Bring the kids so they can enjoy activities led by the Annapolis Children's Museum, including face painting and youth music. The first fireworks display goes off at 7:30 followed by a midnight display.

Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa will host its “Celebrate New Year’s Eve” party from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Rod ‘N’ Reel restaurant. Almost Cher will be performing from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. to help ring in the new year. Admission is $30 per person and includes party favors, champagne toast, continental breakfast and cash bar. Union Jack's Annapolis will be hosting its all-night New Year’s Eve extravaganza, the Little Black Dress Ball, from 8 p.m. to 4 p.m. with the 90s cover band Rollerblades performing live. There will also be a DJ with plenty of dancing going on throughout the night. Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served from 8-10 p.m. with a champagne toast at midnight. Jah Works and Fake Flowers Real Dirt will be performing at Metropolitan Kitchen & Lounge’s New Year’s Celebration, which takes kicks off at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 online and $20 when purchased at the door. Tickets include a champagne toast at midnight.

Rams Head on Stage will hold its Rockin' New Year's Eve Extravaganza with Deanna Bogart from 6:45 p.m. until after midnight. Appetizers will be served from 7-8 p.m. with an open buffet from 8:30-10 p.m. Deanna takes the stage at 10 until midnight where there will be a champagne toast to welcome 2014. Tickets are $114. Don’t worry Eastern Shore residents, I haven’t forgotten about you.

Ocean City’s Northside Park will play host to the annual WinterFest of Lights with over one million dazzling lights on hundreds of animated displays. Spectators can relax in the heated Winterfest Village pavilion and even have their pictures taken with Santa. Starting at 5:30 p.m. nightly, this is a good way to spend the day before New Year’s Eve festivities get into high gear. The cost is $5 per person with kids 11 & under riding free. Starting at 9 p.m., the city of Berlin will end a memorable 2013 with a New Year's Eve celebration on Main Street with hot cider, hot chocolate, music and entertainment, ending with the ball drop across from the Atlantic Hotel. Stop by or call 410-641-4775 for event info.

The town of Rock Hall will have its Rock Hall Crawl to celebrate New Year’s, starting at 6 p.m. with the parade of crazy hats. Osprey Point in Rock Hall will present a special New Year's Eve six-course menu with seatings at 5 and 8 p.m. Seatings are $60 per person (for six courses) and $85 per person with four glass wine pairings. Just a few miles east in Salisbury will be the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop , beginning at 8 p.m. and continuing until after midnight on the Salisbury Downtown Plaza.
