From Scratch Grenadine

Jan 21, 2014 03:46PM ● By Cate Reynolds
Grenadine is typically used in cocktails as a tasty mix-in. Authentic grenadine is, believe it or not, made from pomegranate juice. Make your own at home for a little something extra in your cocktails.

1/4 cup sugar
1 cup unsweetened pomegranate juice

In a sauce pan, combine juice and sugar. Place the pan over medium heat and stir until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil and cook for five minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let cool. Transfer to a jar or bottle.

Makes 1 cup.
