Celebrate Charity This Weekend

Freeze your tails off for a good cause this Saturday starting at 10 a.m. during the 18th Annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge. Take a dip in the bone-chilling Chesapeake Bay at Sandy Point State Park while supporting Special Olympics Maryland. Local celebrities, including media from 98 Rock, WBAL-TV and WBAL-AM. Performers at the Rams Head Ice Lodge include Hot Tub Limo, Dublin 5 and the Amish Outlaws.

Help support Live Arts Maryland at Live Arts Maryland Gala 2014 Saturday at 6:30 p.m., an illustrious celebration at the Loews Annapolis Hotel featuring performances from pianist John McDaniel, Valerie Lemon, Bernard Dotson and Erik Apland. Enjoy a bottle of wine at your table and bid on auction times including a Wintergreen vacation home, private Scotch tasting, jewelry, and much more.

Help support local schools at the 16th Annual Anne Arundel County High School Battle of the Bands, taking place this Saturday at 5 p.m. at Maryland Hall. The top high school rock bands from Anne Arundel County high schools will compete in this battle of musical and lyrical creativity. All proceeds go to the music departments of the top four bands. Performing will be Brothers Clair (Broadneck), Carraway (Annapolis), Chasing Verity (Annapolis), Crash 57 (Southern), Five Seconds to Freedom (Spalding), Freelance (Arundel), The Goons (South River), Halftone (Old Mill), RUOkay (Spalding), Semi Mori (North County) and WAAAAALT!! The Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. will host Snow Much Fun, an evening for kids filled with art activities, projects and a performance by Bright Star Children's Theater Saturday at 6 p.m. Children ages 3-13 can create their own art, take part in storytelling and drink complimentary hot chocolate. The event is free to attend but a warm clothing donation is encouraged.

Realerevival Brewing in Cambridge will host Pints for Paws Saturday at 1 p.m. to benefit Baywater Animal Rescue. The event is free and open to the public with $1 of every homebrew sold going to the rescue. Tickets for Baywater’s February 15th Have a Heart fundraiser will be available for purchase.
