If there’s one thing Alex Peterson doesn’t like to do, it’s sit still. To combat that, she tries to fill her schedule with as much as she can possibly handle, whether it’s playing lacrosse, field hockey, or equestrian at Key School or spending time with friends.

“Playing sports I’m always moving around,” Peterson says. “In life in general, I’m always doing something. I can’t really sit still. I can’t remember the last weekend I had free. I like to keep moving and doing stuff even if it’s social.”

Peterson’s top moment of her high school career came during her freshman field hockey season when she scored a game-winning goal with only seconds remaining in overtime to break a 0-0 score.

While she excels at lacrosse and field hockey, her true passion is in equestrian. She won Reserve Champion in the Middle School Future Intermediate division in 2010 as well as Reserve Champion in her division and Middle Class champion her sophomore season.

As captain of the equestrian team, it’s no surprise she spends much of her spare time riding outside of school.

“Riding’s definitely my biggest hobby,” Peterson says. “If I’m not riding, I’m at the barn. I do homework at the barn. I do everything at the barn.”

Peterson is looking at several colleges including Clemson University, University of Alabama, and University of South Carolina Aiken. She hopes to major in equine studies.
