Baked French Toast

Baked French toast is a nice choice for brunch, since it can be prepared ahead of time. Make it look like you spent hours slaving when really, you just tossed something in the oven.

1 loaf French bread, cut into 1 inch slices
8 eggs
2 cups milk
1 ½ cups half and half
2 tsp. vanilla
¼ tsp. cinnamon
¾ cup butter
1 ½ cup brown sugar

Butter a 9x13 baking dish. Arrange the bread in the bottom. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread and cover. Refrigerate over night. The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small sauce pan, combine butter and brown sugar until bubbling. Pour over bread. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.
