What do a lacrosse net and the Internet have in common? Bradley Jones loves defending both.

On the field, the Lions lacrosse defenseman spent his time stopping rivals from attacking the goal with a stick and a ball. When he attends Frostburg State University, he will continue to play lacrosse but will also major in Information Systems Cyber Security in an effort to defend the nation with a mouse and a keyboard.

His ultimate goal is to become a computer specialist for the government or a large company and focus highly on cyber security.

Earning that type of position takes some top-notch critical thinking. Jones earned a 4.0 GPA at Queen Anne’s County High School while juggling AP and honors classes.

Outside of the athletic realm, he is a member of the National Honor Society, It’s Academic, Future Business Leaders of America, the Engineering Club, and is a mentor for youth lacrosse players in Centreville.

“Budgeting time has been something I have become accustomed to,” Jones says. “I challenge myself by taking difficult classes to prepare myself for college and challenge myself for the real world.”

Like his schedule, Jones’ trophy case filled up pretty quickly, having earned a Defensive Player of the Year, two basketball championships, varsity basketball’s Floor General Award, and the Heart of a Lion Award for varsity lacrosse.

Keeping busy and working hard is in Jones’ nature. He has to look no further than Maryland native and NBA MVP Kevin Durant for inspiration.

“Reading his stories drove me to thinking,” Jones says “’If I work hard and strive for greatness, not only in sports but the classroom, I realize that the sky is the limit and success is the only option.’”
