With the first full week of summer almost in the books, we’re now approaching the heart of wine and dine season, which means a plethora of parties, philanthropy, and picnics.

Kick-start your weekend South Beach style with What’s Up? Media’s Annual Best Of Party, taking place at the Loews Annapolis Hotel on Thursday at 6 p.m. This white party salutes top local businesses and residents for their contributions to Anne Arundel County and the Eastern Shore. With more than 25 samples from local winning chefs, wine and beer tastings, giveaways, and silent auctions, there is no shortage of fun to be had.

In a monthly philanthropic endeavor, the outside patio of WEST Kitchen & Tavern outside of Loews will host Canines & Cocktails for a Cause, an event benefiting several animal rescues. The event begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. and includes raffles, with a basket from Dogwood Acres being donated to each raffle. This month’s Canines & Cocktails benefits the Anne Arundel County SPCA.

Break out your blanket or lawn chair and set up shop at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Va. for two big concerts as OneRepublic & The Script come to town on Friday and Toby Keith performs on Saturday.

Annapolis Maritime Museum will be hosting Them Eastport Oyster Boys in its Tides and Tunes Summer Concert Series Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. while Muskrat Park in St. Michaels will play host to the Sunny Isles Blues Band from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday.

As far as indoor music goes, Rams Head on Stage will hold an all ages matinee on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. when the Bay Tunes Guitars Spring Rock Band School Showcase hits the stage in a display of talented young musicians putting their rehearsals to the ultimate test. Come see what musical magic the youth of today have in store for us.

In D.C., the Midtown Men will perform the grand finale of the NSO Pops season Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. at the Kennedy Center. The Broadway sensations will take their harmonious choreography to the stage and put a new twist on bands like The Beatles, The Drifters, and The Four Seasons.
