Image titleAfter moving to Maryland, Cornelia C. Heckenbach (a native of Germany) decided to share the expertise she’d developed relocating and buying homes. She knew there were others like herself who would also find their American Dream in the simple life of the Eastern Shore. She earned her real estate license in 1992 and Broker’s license a few years later. “I love it here and I love showing and selling property,” Cornelia explains.

Cornelia has much to celebrate—she has been a top producer for decades, is a lifelong member in the Long and Foster Companies Founders Hall of Fame, as well as being named the top selling agent in sales volume, of all licensed agents in the county in 2011. She continues to be the leading agent in St. Michaels. Cornelia wants her success to be your success.

“Now is a good time to buy,” she confides. “There is good inventory to choose from and sellers have realized that they have to price their homes competitively.”

Q: How do you select the right realtor to list your home?

A: You should interview several to find the one that fits your needs. Some of the questions should be: “How long have you been selling in this area?” “How many listing will you be servicing?” and “Do you have an internet presence?” As this is a second home market, it is beneficial that the broker be from a strong nationwide agency since the majority of buyers come from outside the area.
