"Meet the Artist" Reception with Jessica Chambers

Jessica Chambers is an Encaustic Artist and Art Educator living in Baltimore City. Born in Baltimore in 1981, and raised in Reisterstown Maryland, Jessica spent her early childhood exploring the train tracks and backwoods along the boundaries of the city. She learned to paint out of absolute boredom, and she continued to paint because television back then, “just wasn’t any good.” Jessica matured as a painter and after graduating with a degree in Art and a degree in English Literature from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 2002 she moved to Northern Japan to teach English on the faculty of Holy Spirit Women’s College. Jessica became a member of the Saigado painting group in 2003 and began exhibiting widely in Akita City.
After years in Japan and a brief move to New York to work for a Japanese company, Jessica returned to her native Baltimore to create her studio, while earning a Master’s degree in Education. In 2011 Jessica began exploring the encaustic medium, and painting with her mind in both corners of the world, borrowing an eclectic mix of modern and post-modern Japanese aesthetic with an innate need to document, her work explores the announcements of human relationships.
