Rhea's Letter to the Reader

I have always had a passion for food ever since I can remember. As my appetite for life grew alongside my appetite for food I gradually became aware of the importance of supporting an active lifestyle with conscientious food choices. However, I wasn’t (and never have been) satisfied with the notion that healthy equated to unappealing. Thus, I stand—or rather sit in front of my laptop—before you a self-taught home cook here to change the world one healthy meal at a time.
I am inspired by color more than anything, as you will see in the coming weeks, months, and maybe even years. I believe that incorporating the full color spectrum into one’s diet is the best guideline for wholesome eating. Best of all, it allows the flexibility for one to incorporate personal tastes and dietary restrictions/needs. Beyond that, there are some simple principles I try to live by when possible: the less legs the better it is for you, a salad a day keeps the doctor away, and always DRINK WATER. As with anything in life, I urge you to remain open-minded and honest with yourself. Eating does not have to be a prescribed or complicated matter, and if you can read you can cook. Bearing those things in mind, I hope this column inspires you to try something new. Happy eating!
