Severna Park Family and Cosmetic Dentistry has been serving the community since 1978. Drs. Hooper, Russell, Deasey and Wright are committed to maintaining the highest quality of care. As a family practice, we focus our attention on the young and elderly alike, fulfilling their varied dental and cosmetic needs. Prevention, education, and a “patient first” policy, along with pleasant surroundings and friendly staff, all contribute to make our patients’ dental experience as comfortable as possible. We strive to provide the best diagnoses and care through the use of digital x-rays, the Biolase soft tissue laser, intraoral photography, modern materials, a state of the art sterilization center, and continuing education classes.

Dr. Larry Hooper, an Anne Arundel County native, received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland. He earned his Master’s Degree in Biology from St. Johns College in New York and a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Mount St. Mary’s College. When not at work he enjoys golfing and boating with his children and grandchildren.

Dr. Paul Deasey was born in England but has spent much of his life moving around America and now calls the state of Maryland his permanent home. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland, where he received extra training as an Oral Surgery Clerk. Following his dental school education, he continued his education with a General Practice Residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania, treating medically compromised patients. Upon completion of his residency, he worked for a private practice in Pasadena, Maryland before becoming a partner at Severna Park Family and Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Alison Wright is enjoying her second year as a member of this practice. A native of Connecticut, she has lived in Maryland for the past 13 years. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. She appreciates the technical and artistic aspects of dentistry, and she prides herself in performing quality dental work with a gentle hand and an empathetic nature. Q. What are dental sealants? Who should get them, and how long do they last?

A. Dental sealants are clear or tooth-colored composite resins that are bonded to the chewing surface of posterior teeth to help prevent decay. Sealants should be applied before decay forms; therefore children benefit the most because we can seal teeth as they erupt. Teeth with deep grooves and pits at any age benefit from sealants as well. Sealants generally last about three to four years, but in our practice 10 or more years is common.
