Dr. Joseph Benderson, founder of BayCove Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, lives in Severna Park with his wife and two young children. He also volunteers his time as a clinical instructor at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. “When I started BayCove Dentistry one of my goals was to surround myself with people who share my vision for quality, honest dental care and an upbeat, caring attitude. I am extremely lucky and proud to have such a great staff who share my vision. It feels like an extended family here.”
This view is shared by Dr. Alex Fishman, who joined the BayCove team a little over three years ago. “Dr. Benderson and I have a wonderful working relationship and have become true friends. The whole staff is fantastic. There’s a dynamic energy here that translates into a positive patient experience.”
Keeping up with technology, materials and techniques is fundamental to the philosophy at BayCove Dentistry. Some of the services offered are porcelain layered and all zirconia bridges and crowns, porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, root canals, extractions, and implants to replace missing teeth or to stabilize dentures. Three talented and experienced hygienists perform routine cleanings and provide periodontal (gum) treatment. From virtually invisible orthodontics using Invisalign, beautiful white fillings, lower radiation digital x-rays, to utilization of top-notch dental labs and more, BayCove keeps a strong focus on quality. Two new state-of-the-art treatment rooms have recently been added to the facility to accommodate the growing demand for appointments.
Dr. Benderson and Dr. Fishman perform the majority of dental procedures in-house. This, along with daytime, evening and weekend hours, and participation with most insurance plans, makes BayCove a great choice for many families. Fearful patients are encouraged to try out BayCove, which prides itself on “catering to adults, kids and cowards.” Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) is available to help ease anxiety as well as Dr. Benderson’s tendency to hum 80’s tunes at times.
What I like most about practicing dentistry:
“I find it extremely rewarding to help give a person the confidence to smile again through cosmetic dental solutions. It’s amazing what people will do for themselves once they feel confident about smiling. They often report living a healthier lifestyle. I’ve seen people quit smoking, lose weight, begin eating healthier and exercising. When people feel like they can smile more, they do smile more, and good things follow.”—Dr. Benderson
“I agree. For many people it’s hard to smile confidently because of embarrassment about missing or broken teeth, discoloration, crowding, spaces or any combination of these. It’s a great feeling to help empower a person to smile with confidence.”—Dr. Fishman

Q. Why is it important to replace missing teeth?
A. It depends on various factors such as which and how many teeth are missing. Besides aesthetic issues, missing teeth can lead to other problems. When a person loses a tooth or teeth, shifting can occur. In addition, the chewing balance is disrupted which can lead to more stress on the remaining teeth. This can result in a cascading effect that is best avoided. When people have missing teeth replaced, they are often better able to enjoy the foods they love. There are some fantastic options these days to replace missing teeth.
