The town of Annapolis is in the homestretch of celebrating Irish Week and there are enough St. Patrick’s Day events to fill a pot of gold to the brim! Happy St. Patrick’s Day from your friends at What’s Up? Media! Here are the top picks…

Fado Irish Pub hosts a Whiskey Dinner on Thursday, March 12th from 7 – 9 p.m. at $35 per person. The St. Baldrick’s Head Shaving Event is Sunday, March 15th from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. This is a fundraising event that raises money and awareness to help fight children’s cancer. On St. Patrick’s Day, Tuesday, March 17th Fado is the first Irish pub in town to open its doors serving Pints and Pancakes. WRNR 103.1FM will be at the pub giving away a trip to Ireland at 9 a.m. Who knows? If you have the luck of the Irish you may just walk away a winner!

Eastport Green Beer Races, an Irish Week in Annapolis Event is on Saturday, March 14th 12 - 8 p.m. at Eastport Democratic Club, 525 State Street. The event will include root beer for the young and green beer races for the young at heart, as well as a premier class for local bar and restaurant workers. Other fun highlights include a keg toss, the cutest leprechaun contest, and for our four legged friends, a best-dressed dog contest.

Irish Genealogy Search Day, an Irish Week in Annapolis Event is Sunday, March 15th 12 – 4 p.m. at Charles Carroll House in Historic Downtown Annapolis, 107 Duke of Gloucester Street. The event is free! Research your cultural heritage whether your ancestors hail from Ireland or another foreign land.

Irish Band, Lunasa performs to benefit the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra, An Irish Week in Annapolis Event on Sunday, March 15th. The 25th Anniversary Gala for the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra will feature Lunasa, a band who Folk Roots magazine proclaims is the “Irish Music Dream Team”. They will be accompanied by the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra and Senior Flute Ensemble. The party is on St. John’s College Campus at the Francis Scott Key Auditorium and tickets are $50. The party starts at 6 p.m. with Irish fare, Irish beer, wine and other refreshments and music from the CYSO Jazz Ensemble. Free Engraved Guinness Pint Glass Giveaway at Galway Bay, an Irish Week in Annapolis Event on Monday, March 16th from 7 – 9 p.m. Galway Bay is located on Maryland Avenue in Downtown Annapolis. Stop over and enjoy a pint in a free engraved glass. Cheers!

O’Brien’s will open at noon on St. Patrick’s Day Tuesday, March 17th with Irish food, green beer. DJ Manilla will spin tunes starting at 8 p.m. late into the night for all those dressed in green on the dance floor.
