Kendall Summers Law

May 13, 2015 04:28PM ● By Cate Reynolds
Kendall Summers is a familiar face in Annapolis.  Over the past twenty years, she has called many neighborhoods home from Bay Ridge to Downtown Annapolis, Eastport, and West Annapolis and been active in all their communities. She raised her children here, where they attended Key School and Severn School.  Kendall Summers understands family life in Annapolis.

When we asked her why she has made families the focus of her practice, she answered: “I do family law because I like to help people. Divorce is a very personal, frightening and difficult process, a bit like having a leg amputated. It causes great pain and forces individuals and families to redefine who they are while participating in an intense legal process. It is also a situation calling for excellence in legal knowledge. Folks are very vulnerable in this period of their lives. They need someone they can trust. I do my best to earn my client’s’ trust and to provide each one with exceptional legal guidance, while also helping them make good decisions for their lives and relationships.”

Kendall Summers is an experienced family law attorney with over 25 years in legal practice. Attorney Summers began her legal career in our nation’s larger firms, before opening her own law practice in divorce and family law in Annapolis, MD.

“My main focus,” Kendall says, “is guiding my clients through all the options, giving them knowledgeable legal advice and helping them define the optimal dispute resolution process for them. Depending on the situation, these options may include working with an outline and negotiating issues with their partners, working through a mediator to help bring resolution and guide discussion, and participating in collaborative processes of negotiation and settlement. Court litigation is the most expensive option generally and involves the highest level of conflict. We have wonderful judges in Anne Arundel County who try to make wise Solomon-like decisions that bring good results, but they often have limited options, which is another reason settlement processes, where they are possible, usually provide greater flexibility and allow for more creative options.”

Attorney Kendall Summers is a trained Mediator, who serves on the mediation panel of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County. This summer, she will be attending advanced mediation and negotiation training program at Harvard Law School. Attorney Summers also serves on the Anne Arundel Circuit Court panel for representing children in high conflict divorce cases.

Kendall Summers graduated from the Washington College of Law, American University in Washington D.C., and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts atAmherst. Kendall Summers also serves as a rostered leader in her church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and holds a Master’s of Divinity, and Master of Sacred Theology. Locally, she attends St. Martin’s Lutheran Church on Forest Drive and Spa Road, Annapolis.
