A Privateer Party

May 20, 2015 10:04AM ● By Becca Newell

Historic London Town and Gardens held its annual Privateer Party on Friday, April 24th, on its beautiful, waterfront grounds in Edgewater.

More than 190 guests, dressed in pirate garb (or cocktail attire!), enjoyed food from local caterers, dancing to the band Cover Stories, and bidding on silent and live auction items, while raising money for the nonprofit organization. About $34,000 was raised.

A Privateer Party is the largest fundraiser for the 23-acre museum and gardens, which sits along the South River. The money raised benefits London Town and Gardens' educational and horticultural programs, in addition to help to preserve the historic national landmark, the William Brown House.

Historic London Town and Gardens is open from 10 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. There is an admission fee. A full listing of events and other information can be found here.
