Enjoy the great outdoors beyond your deck

Our National Parks are a true national treasure. If you look at a map of Maryland’s National Parks it’s easy to see we have more than our fair share compared to the rest of the country. Many are historical (Fort McHenry) rather than scenic wonders (Assateague Island), while others are both (Antietam in Sharpsburg comes to mind). But walking any of the paths of history can be very productive for the old fitbit.

Also, it’s interesting to know we aren’t the only thing getting healthier in our National Parks. National Park Tourism in Maryland creates $293.4 million in economic benefit and supports 3,171 jobs in Maryland.

So get out those good walking shoes, open your mind to new experiences, and help support your home state this summer. Visit the National Park Service website at www.nps.gov for all the details on Maryland’s 16 National Parks as well as parks in our surrounding states.
