Puppy Plunge

Celebrate man’s best friend at these fun philanthropic events benefiting local humane societies and other animal-related organizations. Each one is Fido-friendly, so don’t forget to bring along your beloved pooch!

Traveling Yappy Hour Fundraiser

Thursday, August 20th. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dogwood’s Pool, Davidsonville. Complimentary food and drinks, off-leash pool time, raffles, bikini contest, SPCA Mobile Unit, photo booth, and more. $35/per person. Space is limited. Puppy Plunge

Sunday, August 23rd. Noon to 3 p.m. Camp Letts, Edgewater. Dogs of all ages can take the plunge into the Rhode River, just off the Chesapeake Bay! Wag & Wine for a Cause, an Animal Legal Defense Fund benefit presented by Paws Pet Boutique

Friday, August 28th. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Great Frogs Winery, Annapolis. Sip wine, meet and mingle with dog lovers, learn about animal-related charities, and more. FREE. Wine from Great Frogs Winery and food from Tastings Gourmet Market available for purchase. Hosted by Paws Pet Boutique. Dogs must be on leash. Carpooling encouraged. Maryland SPCA’s Wine & Wag, a Maryland SPCA benefit

Friday, August 28th. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Maryland SPCA Campus, Baltimore. Off-leash play, bobbing for hot dogs, paw painting, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres. Beer and wine available for $3; other drinks for $1 (suggested donation). Additional food available for purchase from local food trucks. $10/person advance registration; $15/person at the door. Wednesday, September 9th. Truxten Park Pool, Annapolis. After the pool closes for the season, it’s open to the dogs for one evening! Tats for Tails and Block Party

Saturday, October 17th. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. block party; noon to 8 p.m. tattoo party; 8 to 11 p.m. dance party. Vendors, kids’ activities, adoptable pets, food, and more at the Block Party on the first and second blocks of Market Street in Denton. Get a softball-size (or smaller!) tattoo at Black Anchor Tattoo in Denton. Enjoy a 21 and over Dance Party at the Armory in Denton, featuring cash bar, food, the Two Thirds Band, and more. Waterfowl Festival’s Dock Dogs Competition

Friday, November 13th through Sunday, November 15th. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Easton Middle School, Easton. Watch various breeds of dogs run down a dock and splash into a pool of water! Presented by Delmarva Dock Dogs. Waterfowl Festival ticket required.
