Our HistoryAnnapolis Asthma Pulmonary and Sleep Specialist was established in 1985 by Dr. Robert Peterson, founder and president.
Pulmonary Medicine is a subspecialty of Internal Medicine. Pulmonologists diagnose and treat disorders of the lungs and respiratory system. These disorders include asthma, emphysema, and COPD. They also treat infections such as pneumonia and TB; as well as diseases such as lung cancer, sarcoid, pulmonary fibrosis, chronic cough; and occupational lung diseases such as asbestosis. Sleep Medicine is provided by our sleep specialists. Evaluation and treatment of Sleep Apnea snoring narcolepsy, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, periodic leg movements, REM behavior disorders and other sleep related problems are performed. Annapolis Asthma Pulmonary and Sleep Specialist works closely with the Anne Arundel Sleep Lab and Sleep Services of America. Home sleep studies are also available.
Their practice also includes Critical Care Medicine. As Intensivists they are trained to care for patients admitted with life threatening illnesses to the intensive care unit. They are the primary physicians responsible for the patient’s care while in the unit and coordinate all diagnostic and treatment plans with the other physicians involved. Dr. Degani joined the practice in 2012 after completing a sleep medicine fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. His Pulmonary Critical Care training was performed at the Medical College of Georgia and he completed his residency training at Mercer University. His medical degree is from Spartan University in the Caribbean and his undergraduate background in Kinesiology is from York University in his hometown of Toronto, Canada. Dr. Patel’s practice is hospital based, anchoring the critical care team at Annapolis Asthma Pulmonary and Sleep Specialist. Dr. Patel joined our practice in 2011 after completing a critical care fellowship at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Board Certifications: Critical Care Medicine
Dr. Resnick joined the practice in 1998 after completing his Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep training at UCLA. Dr. Resnick received a B.S. degree in Biology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended medical school at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. Dr. Weinstein joined the practice in 1989 after completing his Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at the University of South Florida, in Tampa. He served as Medical Director of the Critical Care Department of Anne Arundel Medical center for twenty years. He is the medical director of the Sleep Lab and serves on the Board of Directors of Sleep Services of America. Dr. Yu graduated cum laude from Barnard College in New York City after completing studies in Biochemistry, English Literature, and Philosophy. She then attended medical school at New York University and completed her residency training at NYU. Dr. Yu joined the practice in 1999 after completing her fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins University where she also did research in Molecular Biology.
