After more than 30 years of practicing dentistry on Kent Island, Dr. Scott Billings and Dr. Christopher Murphy are showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, they are doing just the opposite. Now operating under the name Eastern Shore Dental Care (formerly Billings & Murphy DDS), the office is well-known in the area for having both state-of-the-art facilities (lower radiation emitting X-rays, flat screen TVs in every operatory, emergency appointments scheduled within 24 hours) and an exceptional approach to patient care. It’s that one-of-a-kind chairside relationship with the Eastern Shore community that has made these doctors a fan-favorite for so long.

The addition of Dr. Ashley Francis last year allowed the office to schedule later weekday appointments and operate on an every-other-weekend schedule. “As the Eastern Shore continues to grow and change, so have we in order meet the continuing needs of our patients,” explained Dr. Billings. The practice now boasts six hygienists, which affords patients the option to schedule cleanings before or after work, as well as two Saturdays a month. “Last year, we experimented with extending our hours and found that patients really loved being able to visit the dentist after work and on the weekends.”

“Best dental experience of my life!!! Everyone is so nice and such a high-tech office. You made me feel like the most important person in the world.” – Lin Kahmer

The decision to also completely re-brand and re-name the practice after all of these years was not taken lightly. “We didn’t want our existing patients to think anything was changing with regard to the care they receive in this office,” Dr. Murphy explained. But some worried the name change signaled an end-of-an-era and the possibility their beloved doctors were close to stepping down. Dr. Murphy insisted he isn’t ready to hang up his scrubs any time soon. “Maybe I should start dying my hair so people will stop asking me if I’m retiring!” he quipped. “Patient care is still our number one priority, continued Dr. Billings, from that first phone call a patient makes to get scheduled, to how they’re treated while in the chair – our entire team is always giving 110%. Our goal is, and always will be, to provide the most comfortable, relaxed, and hopefully painless dental experience that you’ve ever had!”
