Don’t miss downtown Annapolis’ annual tradition of shopping and socializing into the night during Midnight Madness! It’s a great opportunity to support local businesses and get holiday shopping finished while you enjoy free local entertainment! The Entertainment Line Up for tonight includes: Bay Area Community Church, Cousin Eddie, Old Mill High School Steel Drum Band, Dance Center of Severna Park, Jocelyn Faro, HoHo with the PoPo, Severn Lower School Chorus, The Salvation Army Band, The Chesapeake Revelers, WNAV and WRNR broadcasting live.
Throw on your ugly sweater and get to the artsy first block of West St. to "Satisfy your sweet-tooth" during the Chocolate Binge Festival and Holiday Light Canopy lighting. Under the warm glow of lights you'll be served a free toasty cup of hot chocolate while you enjoy listening to music. There will also be holiday vendors, prizes, and fun for kids of all ages including a moon-bounce and kids comedy improv.
Congratulations to the Annapolis Musicians Fund for Musicians. Their Sold Out Show, An Annapolis Christmas, happens again this year at Rams Head On Stage on Monday the 7th. Annapolis Musicians Fund for Musicians is a nonprofit organization created to provide temporary financial relief to professional Annapolis musicians who cannot work due to illness, injury, or other circumstance leaving them unable to perform. The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is invites the public to celebrate the holidays with a ceremony that includes caroling, the lighting of a tree atop the mast of a traditional Chesapeake workboat, holiday craft activities for kids, store discounts, and the lighting of the 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse, which is an icon of St. Michaels and the 50-year old non-profit museum. From 4-7 p.m., museum volunteers and staff will host a free children’s activity in the Bay History building, while parents, grandparents and other adults shop in the Museum store, enjoy wine and light refreshments, and free gift wrapping. At 6 p.m., carolers will lead participants through the museum’s waterfront campus to watch the lighting of the 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse, which will be decorated for the holidays.
Downtown Cambridge got it’s first-ever Crab Bushel Basket Christmas Tree last year! The tree lighting Cambridge Main Street’s Executive Director, Brandon Hesson, came up with the idea and then designed and built it himself, “I wanted us to have something that felt like a real Eastern Shore Christmas and would celebrate our watermen at the same time”. Come to Downtown Cambridge and take a look for yourself. It will be at the corner of Race and Gay Streets, in the parking lot at Craig’s Drug Store at 409 Race Street during the holiday season. They are proud it has become an instant tradition. The unique holiday tree is back, bigger, and better than ever. The tree lighting will kick off the annual Christmas parade through town.
Acclaimed americana band, Over the Rhine consists of the husband-and-wife duo Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist. They have performed with My Morning Jacket, John Prine, Bob Dylan, and more. Paste Magazine has called their music, “lovely, heartbreaking… an uplifting musical mosaic”, and rightly so. For fans of Shawn Colvin, U2, and 10,000 Maniacs.
