Hillman, Brown & Darrow, P.A. has been featured as one of What’s Up? Annapolis’ Leading Lawyers since the magazine began its ratings. Over the last 10 years we have shared with readers our history, our qualifications, and countless endorsements by members of the legal community and our clients. This year we have chosen a different focus; we want to introduce you to our entire HBD family. HBD has a team of dedicated individuals constantly working together to give our clients the best experience and representation possible. HBD began as a legal entity on October 1, 1979, but Judy Myers, the firm’s first legal secretary, began working with Sam Brown and Mike Darrow on March 1, 1979. She has welcomed countless other staff members and new attorneys. She has transitioned from working with a Selectric II typewriter to keypunch machines to computers. She has mentored and inspired the many staff members who have worked for us over the years.

The HBD family has suffered losses of beloved staff members and celebrated the births of many children and grandchildren. We are proud of our firm’s continuity and that many of our employees have stayed part of the family for many years. In 37 years we have only had two office managers, Tiffany Kilby-Schneider is our second, and two managing partners. Diana Hager, who has been here for 22 years, is our fourth bookkeeper. We have been at our current location at 221 Duke of Gloucester Street for 33 years. HBD has a solid foundation on which to go forward and represent our clients aggressively, compassionately, and successfully. Our clients have become our extended family. As one client recently said, “I can’t thank [you] and [your] practice enough for everything from divorce proceedings, emotional support, mental support, and the empathy and compassion that is rare in this day.”

The attorneys and staff of Hillman, Brown & Darrow, P.A. are dedicated to maintaining our clients’ best interests and navigating them through their cases skillfully, aggressively but compassionately through difficult, frustrating, and emotional times. A satisfied client thanked the firm for successfully guiding them through their demanding case, emphasizing the amount of stress that can be endured during a case, saying“This has been one of the hardest journeys I have taken. You have done a terrific job for me. …Thank you for getting me through my past.” As said by another client but repeated by so many, [the HBD firm goes] “up and beyond expectations.”

HBD is a full-service law firm. We work with people on individual, family, and business matters to help them fulfill their dreams and work with them through complex areas of the law where skilled professional help is necessary. Whether it is a family law or custody action, an administrative action, construction litigation, a personal injury or workers’ compensation claim, working with you on business matters or litigation, preparing wills, or representing someone in a district or circuit court traffic or criminal case, you will receive a high caliber of representation from every attorney and staff member of our firm.

Thank you to those who have entrusted us with their opportunities and needs over the years. Legal experiences are not always pleasurable, we hope, at HBD, that we have made your trek a little more comfortable, that you have achieved a positive outcome, and that you finished your experience with the firm in a better place than when you walked through our doors.
