What's Up? Media had the chance to catch up with founding guitarist Chris Henderson of the band 3 Doors Down, which will be performing at the Ravens Countdown to Kickoff Party on Friday, September 9th at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. Plus a rundown of Labor Day and other events going on during the holiday weekend for you to enjoy. Coming up this September is our first monthly What's Up? Media Pop-Up Happy Hour -- the secret location is revealed below.

A What’s Up? Media Exclusive Interview with Founding Guitarist Chris Henderson of 3 Doors Down

Popularly known for “Kryptonite,” “Here Without You,” “When I’m Gone,” and so many more, 3 Doors Down recently released their sixth full-length album, Us and the Night.

3 Doors Down will perform at the Ravens Countdown to Kickoff Party presented by Miller Lite as part of their Us and the Night tour on Friday, September 9th at Maryland State Fairgrounds. Gates open at 5 p.m. and is open to all ages. Regular admission is $10 advance and $20 day of event.

Annapolis Labor Day Regatta
Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th, times vary.
Don’t miss two days of racing at the Eastport Yacht Club giving you Labor Day Monday fun for family and friends! Included are two great social events including the competitor party on Saturday afternoon and the awards party and trophy presentation. There will be food trucks, games, a water slide, and more at AYC, a selection of grilled food at EYC, and both parties will have cash bars so bring out the entire family to celebrate the Labor Day weekend on and off the water. 

Navy Football vs. Fordham
Saturday, September 3rd, 12 p.m.
It is another season of Navy Football – an Annapolis hometown tradition! Take in the home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Enjoy tailgate festivities and cheering on the Midshipmen as they take on the Rams!

Quiet Waters Park Concert Series
Sunday, September 4th, 5:30–7 p.m.
Great music, food, and fun for the entire family! Pops in the park is a free concert of pops favorites and light classics set in the lovely outdoor theater at Quiet Waters Park. Come early! Bring a picnic, blanket, and enjoy a perfect evening with your Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. Presenting sponsors Coldwell Banker is "Playing it Forward" by collecting instruments for Anne Arundel County Public school students who cannot afford them. 

First Sunday Arts Festival and Labor Day Parade
Sunday, September 4th, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
This Labor Day Weekend the Annapolis Arts District along West Street in downtown Annapolis will be packed with activity. The First Sunday Arts festival will fill West Street with 130 artists and crafters from Church Circle to the Loews Annapolis Hotel with fun and unique shopping from. In the middle of the day’s festivities the annual Annapolis Labor Day Parade will start! With these two popular events being held simultaneously on West Street, you can expect a full day of fun and art along the street.

Monty Alexander Jazz Festival
Friday, September 2nd through Sunday, September 4th, times vary
Presented by Jazz on the Chesapeake, this three-day festival offers high-caliber performances that will delight concert lovers and jazz aficionados alike at the Avalon Theatre. The festival, now in its seventh year, boasts an extraordinary lineup, sure to appeal to a wide range of music enthusiasts—meaning you should get your tickets now before they sell out!

By the Bay Car Show
Saturday, September 3rd, 9 a.m.
You're invited to the By the Bay Car Show at Bayside Park in Rock Hall. Enjoy a beautiful view of the Chesapeake Bay, live music, food, 50/50 raffles, live music, and of course lots of cars! There will be a best of show and 35 trophies will be given out. Don’t miss the fun.

19th annual Charity Boat Auction
Saturday, September 3rd, 8 a.m.
The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is hosting its 19th annual Charity Boat Auction with proceeds benefiting the children and adults served by the museum. More than 100 boats—ranging in size and performance from sailing dinghies to cabin cruisers, and everything in between—will be auctioned off to the highest bidders. The event also includes a flea market-style tag sale where visitors are able to purchase a variety of used boating gear, including ground tackle, electrical equipment, hardware, rope or chain, ladders, fishing tackle, motors, and more.

St. Michaels Art League Labor Day Show “Under the Tent”
Saturday, September 3rd, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. & Sunday, September 4th, 12:30–5 p.m.
This two day Art Show is free to public and includes Art for Sale. Spend your Labor Day Weekend in historic downtown St. Michaels viewing art, and meeting artists and art enthusiasts. Held rain or shine. Drop by to see demonstrations featuring various mediums by art league members. Again this year, the street banners from previous years will be for sale at this show as well as the framed original artwork designs used to create the 2016 banners which are currently displayed along Talbot Street. This annual show gives everyone an opportunity to see a diverse collection of artwork in pastel, oil, acrylic, watercolor, collage, mixed media, photography and three-dimensional art.

Max Major Think Again
Friday, September 2nd, 8 p.m. and Saturday, September 3rd, 6 & 8:30 p.m.
Washington, D.C.'s three-time recipient of Performance Artist of the Year, Max Major, will use a combination of magic, psychology, hypnosis, and suggestion to demonstrate the untapped powers of the mind at the Baltimore Theatre Project.

Peoples Party in the Park
Sunday, September 4th, 12–6 p.m.
Enjoy a day of awesome music, scrumptious food, refreshing beverages, antique vehicles, and fun for kids of all ages at an Old Fashioned Labor Day Celebration. This event will be held at Fountain Park in Downtown Chestertown. Everyone is encouraged to come out and enjoy the afternoon, bring chairs and blankets to be comfortable. Also, you may bring your own food and beverage.
