What’s Up? Media Donates Proceeds from Best of Party

Veronica Tovey, Publisher and President of What’s Up? Media, and Lulu presented Kelly Brown of the SPCA of Anne Arundel County with a donation of $5,000. All donations were made possible by the proceeds collected at the silent auction during What’s Up? Media’s Best of Party held this past June.


Chrysalis House rededicates building after retired Executive Director

The Chrysalis House recently rededicated its former Butterfly Boutique Building, re-naming it, The Lorene Lake Center, in honor of longtime Executive Director, Lorene Lake, who retired in 2015.

Chrysalis House, Inc. is a leading provider of addiction recovery services for women and their at-risk children in Maryland.


Ruth’s Chris Steak House Brings Its Signature Sizzle to Odenton

Ruth’s Chris Steak House brings its signature sizzle to The Village at Odenton Station. The design inspiration for the Ruth’s Chris Steak House was based on the Old World detailing from the past.

The energetic and welcoming bar with cozy lounge chairs and plush bar seats are the perfect setting for a relaxed, yet sophisticated, bar dining experience. The restaurant will be open seven days a week for dining, including all major holidays. The Steak House will also offer convenient lunch seating from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.


Kevin Bacon Visits Creating Communities in Anne Arundel County

Creating Communities was contacted by Kevin Bacon’s foundation, SixDegrees.org in September. The foundation interviewed Executive Director Rob Levit to see if there was a good fit for a Kevin Bacon site visit. Creating Communities arts and creative orientation and small size made it a perfect match. Bacon then came and visited high school and college students from the Youth Arts Fellowship program and spent time hearing about their goals, dreams, and education while learning more about the mission of Creating Communities.

Festival at Riva Shopping Center in Annapolis hosted a grand re-opening celebration to commemorate the completion of the center’s $13 million renovations.

The renovations include updated facades with modern louvre features. New features include two LED Reader Boards at the entrance to the shopping center as well as LED lights around the facade. The project also included refreshed signage and introduces new community gathering spaces with the addition of common seating areas.
