Proudest teaching moments: “When a Kindergarten student becomes a fluent reader, having gone from knowing nothing about reading and then being able to read any beginning reader. I know that they will be able to go very far in life with these reading skills!”

Teaching philosophy: “I want my students through all learning styles to seek truth and gain a broad foundation of knowledge, skills, and abilities in which they can build upon; to retain concepts and facts that help them think deeper and make connections; to acquire the ability to read fluently so they can reach the goals for which they strive.”

Toughest challenge facing educators: “Student attention spans and focus have become very limited over the last decade. I am challenged daily to keep my students focused on learning and understanding; and help them to build longer attention spans for future success in school.”

Mrs. Shaffer joined Lighthouse Christian Academy in 2015 and has been a tremendous asset to our Kindergarten program, daily demonstrating her dedication to the success of each student. Mrs. Shaffer has a kind and gentle heart, and she teaches her students at an early age to love, serve, and obey the Lord in all they do. When Mrs. Shaffer isn’t engaging hearts and minds in the classroom, she volunteers with her church and has taught Sunday School classes, AWANA, and Vacation Bible School.” —Lisa Dixon, Headmaster
