Brett Eldredge Certainly Found Something He’s Good At

Whether it’s hanging out with his adorable dog Edgar, taking part in his “Bed Head Jams,” or having the time of his life on stage, fans continue to fall in love with rising country music star, Brett Eldredge.

While Eldredge has been known for his impeccable vocals, he gives fans a taste of his quirky and outgoing personality in his newest single, “Something I’m Good At,” which made its television debut at the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards. The song is part of his forthcoming self-titled album set for release August 4th.

The What's Up? Weekend Rundown

Anne Arundel County

Race Across America
Thursday, June 22nd, 12:00 p.m.
Often named the World's Toughest Endurance Race and heralded as the World Championship of Ultracycling for 36 years, the Race Across America will finish in Annapolis for the second year running in June at Susan Campbell Park. This race draws an international field of races from 20+ countries and is followed around the world. Racers raise over $1.5 million collectively per year, covering 30+ charities. Each racer has the opportunity to compete solo or in team relay sizes of two, four, or eight. Racers must cycle 3,000 miles, across 12 states, and climb over 170,000 vertical feet. Race Across America is a true test of speed, endurance, strength, and camaraderie, the ideal combination of work and play. Solo start will begin on Tuesday, June 13th and team start on Saturday, June 17th. Team racers have a maximum of nine days to finish the race while the solo racers have a maximum of 12.

The Shatners – Tides & Tunes Summer Concert Series
Thursday, June 22nd, 7-8:30 p.m.
Enjoy ten weeks of folk, classic rock, soul, swing, Celtic, island rhythm, jazzy, bluesy, randomly surprising music on the beach! Live music by local bands against the scenic back-drop of the Chesapeake Bay. Beer, wine, signature cocktails, & food available for purchase (please refrain from bringing your own beverages as beverage sale proceeds support environmental education programs). Bring a blanket or lawn chairs for seating during the concert. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held under the tent on the Museum back deck

Dave Attell with Mary Radzinski at Rams Head On Stage

Born in Queens and raised on Long Island, Dave Attell got into stand-up comedy in the late eighties after graduating from New York University with a degree in Film and Television. He is the creator and host of “Dave’s Old Porn” on Showtime, which has featured such talent as Whitney Cummings, Chelsea Handler, Adam Carolla, and Daniel Tosh. His stand up deries, Dave Attell's Comedy Underground and his one hour special, Road Work were featured on Comedy Central and Road Work is streaming on Netflix now!

Saturday, June 24th, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. & Sunday, June 25th, 12–5 p.m.

The Promise Ride
Saturday, June 24th, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
Join Susan G. Komen Maryland for the 2nd Annual Promise Ride! Cycle 10, 34 or 65 miles to save lives and end breast cancer forever. The routes are on beautiful roads with water views in Anne Arundel and Calvert Counties. The ride is fully supported and will feature rest stops every 12-15 miles on the longer routes. The rest stop at the half way point in the 10-mile route will be in scenic Historic London Town and Gardens.

June Jam Skateboarding Competition
Sunday, June 25th, 12–6 p.m.
Skaters from all around the world will gather to compete at the June Jam Skateboarding Competition. The talent level will be high and there will be live music by Wise Eyes and local artist, DKH Draws, covers grind box to be raffled off.

Bay Tunes Rock Band School’s Tribute to The Eagles
Sunday, June 25th, 11:30 a.m.
Bay Tunes Guitars is proud to present their latest Rock Band School Performance. The Rock Band School Performance provides young musicians with an amazing opportunity to work in a real band atmosphere and put on a show for their friends and relatives at a great venue!

Doug Segree Band: Summer Concert Series at Annapolis Towne Centre
Friday, June 23rd, 7–8:30 p.m.
Grab your blankets, chairs, and your favorite dancer partner for a relaxing summer evening at the Annapolis Towne Centre during their Friday Night Summer Concert Series featuring a rockin’ beer and wine garden, visits from participating restaurants and retailers, and so much more! Enjoy a set of acoustic guitar, spirited vocals, and great songs about life.

Eastern Shore

Guided Kayak Trip
Thursday, June 22nd, 5:30 p.m.
Kayaking is one of the best ways to experience the wonders of these wetlands. Sign up for one of the monthly Guided Kayaks Tours from May-October. Courtney Leigh, CBEC’s Volunteer/Adult Education Coordinator and Certified Interpretive Guide, will guide you through basic kayak instruction and then will lead you on a paddle to explore the watershed of Marshy Creek. Tours are designed to give participants, beginners and intermediate levels, an introduction to the basic skills of kayaking. Paddling techniques, vessel orientation, loading and unloading, and kayaking safety will be covered. No experience is necessary. An estimated 2 hours of paddling time is scheduled. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. $15/CBEC members, $20/non-members.

Tred Avon Paddle Jam 
Saturday, June 24th, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
MRC and the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals are partnering to bring this fun event to the community. Paddlers will launch kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards from Easton Point Marina to enjoy a six-mile paddle on the Tred Avon River. Paddlers will end back at Easton Point Marina, where there will be live music, food trucks, beverages, and great prizes. Along the paddle route, paddlers can pick up poker cards. Winning hands receive prizes. Registration includes an event tee shirt, one free drink ticket. Safety boats will be positioned throughout the course. Participants are required to provide their own personal floatation device (PFD) and should bring water and snacks to have during the paddle. Bring your own kayak, canoe or paddleboard or rent one from Easton Cyle and Sport, Easton Point Marina, or Shore Pedal and Paddle.

Solstice Stomp 5K
Saturday, June 24th, 6:30 p.m.
Enjoy a beautiful 5k course through the grapes rows at Cascia Vineyards along Cox Creek in Stevensville during one of the longest days of the year! After the race, kick back and listen to great live music from Penny Pistolero while partaking in a complementary tasting of fabulous wine (21+ years old) in your souvenir glass. Complementary juice, water, cheese and crackers will be available in addition to food and wine for purchase. Blankets, lawn chairs, and strollers welcome. $50/ 21 and over, $40/ under 21.

32nd Annual Bay-to-Bay Ride
Sunday, June 25th, 6:30 a.m.
On the fourth Sunday of June each year, the Chestertown Lions Club welcomes cyclists to its summer bicycling challenge, the Bay-to-Bay ride, supporting leader dogs for the blind. The tour consists of five routes between 27 and 104 miles in length. The flat loop routes take in the scenery of the heartland of the Upper Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware including farmlands, old country homes, quaint towns, and great country stores. The 27 mile ride goes through historic Chestertown for those who want a less challenging ride. Spend the day touring the town, then return to join your friends just up the hill from Betterton Beach. Temperatures of mid-June lend themselves to a pleasant swim in the Chesapeake Bay at the end of the ride. Prices vary.


Rock the Dock Concert Series
Thursday, June 22nd–Sunday, June 25th, times vary
Enjoy music on the bay with great food and drinks! Bring your friends and sit on the beach and relax at the Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa. Enjoy live music by Ricky Skaggs, Big T (DJ), John Luskey, and Earth Wind Fire Tribute. Prices vary.

Paint Nite Fundraiser for the Buddy Foundation
Thursday, June 22nd, 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Raise your glass to a new kind of night out! Paint Nite invites you to create art over cocktails at a local hotspot, guided by a professional artist and party host. Grab your friends and spend two hours painting and laughing, and flexing your creative muscles. There’s no experience necessary and we’ll provide all the supplies, so you don’t have to worry about a thing (except having a great time!). Please allow extra time to find parking and get settled. If you're coming with a group make sure you arrive early to get seats together. $45/person.

25th Annual Giant National Capital Barbeque Battle
Saturday, June 24th & Sunday, June 25th, 11 a.m.
When the scent of blooming cherry blossoms fades into the hickey sweet aroma of mouth-watering BBQ, it's time for the area's tastiest summer celebration, the 25th Anniversary of the Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle. This year’s battle will take place on both Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Ave, NW between 3rd and 7th streets. The usual street noise will be replaced by the sounds of powerful vocals and soulful melodies from over 30 bands performing live Rock, Reggae, Jazz, Blue, R&B, and Go-Go throughout the weekend.

Foreplay: Summer Concert Series at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre
Saturday, June 24th, 7–8:30 p.m.
Grab your blankets, chairs, and your favorite dance partner for a relaxing summer evening at the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre during their Saturday Night Summer Concert Series featuring a wonderful beer and wine garden! The band Foreplay performs Good ol’ classic rock and the blues, featuring powerful vocals, multi-part harmonies and ripping guitar riffs.

New Kids on the Block: The Total Package Tour w/ Paula Abdul & Boyz II Men
Sunday, June 25th, 6:30 p.m.
New Kids on the Block took announced their 2017 headlining tour alongside Grammy Award-winning tour mates Paula Abdul and Boyz II Men. A follow-up to 2013’s hugely-successful Package Tour, the aptly titled Total Package Tour is the group’s biggest lineup yet. Paula Abdul makes her momentous return to the stage for a hit-fueled set that includes an incredible seven number-one hit singles, while Package Tour alums Boyz II Men will deliver their trademark, multi-platinum-selling sound to fans nationwide.

What’s Up? Spirit Festival

What’s Up? Media will host their first Spirits Festival at Annapolis Maritime Museum on Thursday, October 26th, 2017 from 6-9 p.m..
