Baysox, Travis Manion Foundation Team Up for Navy Night on August 8th

Team to donate a portion of ticket sales to the Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox today announced they are once again teaming up with the Travis Manion Foundation for Navy Night at Prince George's Stadium on Tuesday, August 8, against the Harrisburg Senators at 7:05 p.m.

"We are so pleased to be working in conjunction with the Travis Manion Foundation again and Navy Night is a perfect fit," said Adam Pohl, Baysox Director of Broadcasting. "What a fun night it will be to come raise funds for the Foundation by coming to a ballgame."

The special evening at the ballpark will honor our country’s service men and women, veterans, first responders and fallen heroes. It will also feature the attendance of the United States Naval Academy Class of 2021 along with Amy Looney, the Vice President of the Travis Manion Foundation, throwing out the first pitch.

Additionally, a donation will be made to the Travis Manion Foundation for each specially priced online ticket sold using the coupon code TRAVIS. The coupon code is good until midnight, August 7th. The donations will be used to support the Foundation’s Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run, which will take place at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Sunday, September 17 at 2 p.m.

"There is no other night more perfect than Navy Night and we are thrilled to be back at Prince George’s Stadium with the Bowie Baysox,” said Natanya Levioff, Race Director for the Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run. "With this being the 10th anniversary of when Travis was killed in action, the run takes on added meaning this year.”

The 9/11 Heroes Run series was inspired by Marine 1st Lt. Travis Manion, a Naval Academy graduate, who was killed by a sniper in Iraq in April 2007 while saving his wounded teammates. Before his final deployment, Travis visited Rescue One in NYC—famous for losing almost all of their men on 9/11—and returned home with a deeper passion about why he was fighting in Iraq. Shortly after his death, his mother, the late Janet Manion, established a foundation in his name to empower our nation’s veterans and families of the fallen to develop character in future generations.

The 9/11 Heroes Run has spread from a small gathering with a few hundred people in one small community in Pennsylvania in 2007 to one that spans over 50 cities in the United States and around the world.

Entering its ninth season, the Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run marked its highest participation to date last year with over 2,000 runners, families and volunteers in attendance.

Proceeds support the Foundation’s programs assisting veterans and families of fallen service members, and promoting character among today’s youth.

As part of Navy Night at the ballpark, officials with the Travis Manion Foundation will have a booth where people can learn more about the Foundation’s mission and register for the upcoming Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run. Fans will be treated to a fireworks show following the game.
